Laser welding puts energy into a very small area. The steel around it keeps its hardness and its size. That is what makes it safe on sealing faces, parting lines and fine details where a conventional weld would distort the tool. The result: worn components get rebuilt instead of replaced. Rebuilding a cavity in place is usually faster and cheaper than cutting a new one. Welded areas are re-machined and polished back to the surrounding finish, so the repair does not show on the molded part.

What can laser welding save?
Worn sealing faces, damaged parting lines, small cracks and worn details. If the alternative is replacing a costly component, a weld and repolish is usually faster and far cheaper.
Will the weld show in the part?
Done right, no. The weld is machined and polished back to the original finish, and the small heat-affected zone means the surrounding surface stays true.
Do you weld molds built by other shops?
Yes. Laser welding is part of our repair service for any make of mold.
Do I have to send the whole mold?
No. Send the component if that is easier: cavities, cores, slides and inserts arrive on their own all the time. If the prints are gone we reverse engineer from the part itself.
What if welding is not the right fix?
The evaluation says so before anything is cut. If a component is worn past saving, we will tell you so and make a new one. We will not sell a repair that does not hold.
