Custom Machining Services.Evansville, Indiana
When your own queue is full, or your part needs tooling-grade accuracy, it runs here. Extrusion dies, adapters, rough castings and machine parts, on the machines that build molds.

Why us
Why machine it here?
Your part runs on the mold fleet
The machines that cut mold steel cut your part. That is why the tolerance holds on something that is not a mold.
The full milling fleet, not a second-string cell
Quantity is not a barrier either way
A single replacement component and a short production run go through the same machines and the same inspection.
One-offs, short runs and overflow
Quoted the way tooling is quoted
A firm number and a real date, rather than an estimate that moves once the job is on the floor.
Firm price, real date
What fits
One part is as welcome as a short run.
The kind of work that runs here between molds.
- Extrusion dies
- Adapters
- Rough castings
- Machine parts
- One-offs
- Overflow work
Grinding covers surfaces up to 20 by 40 inches, with a round-work grinder alongside the flat and form work.

What to expect
What you get before your parts leave.
A firm number and a real date
Your part is quoted and scheduled the way tooling is, not estimated and revised later.
Mold-shop machines cut it
It runs across the milling fleet, the Okuma mill-turn cell and thirteen grinders.
Send whatever you have
STEP, IGES, SolidWorks, Parasolid or a 2-D PDF print are all accepted.
It is measured, not assumed
Everything goes through the same inspection equipment that verifies mold components before it leaves.

Tell us what you need.
Who does it
The shop behind the work.
Dexterous has built molds in Evansville since 1979, and the second generation of the family runs it now. A tool built here comes back here for a repair, to the people who cut it.
New to this? What is contract machining?
Custom machining is any part that is not a mold, made to the accuracy a mold demands. If your part needs tooling-grade tolerance, from a single component to a short run, it fits here. It runs on the same mills, lathes, grinders and EDM machines that build the tooling, and it is inspected on the same equipment. That is the whole reason the tolerance holds on work that is not a mold.
Before you order
What buyers ask before sending us overflow work.
Do you take overflow work from other shops?
Yes, gladly. When your machines are full, ours may not be, and the EDM cell runs around the clock.
Will you make just one part?
Yes. One-offs and short runs are normal here; that is what a tool room does all day.
What files can you work from?
STEP, IGES, SolidWorks, Parasolid, and 2-D PDF prints. A physical sample works too; we reverse engineer.
Do you grind as well as mill and turn?
Yes. Thirteen surface grinders with capacity up to 20 by 40 inches, plus a grinder for round work. All in the same building as the milling and turning.
Do you do production runs?
Short runs, yes. High-volume production machining is not the fit: the shop is a tool room, built for one-offs, short runs and overflow work held to tooling accuracy.
Do you take one-off parts, or only production runs?
Both. A single replacement component is as welcome as a short run, and the same programmers, machines and inspection handle either. Tell us the quantity and the tolerance and you get a price for that job.
What if we have a part but no print?
We reverse engineer from the physical part. That is routine work here, because mold repair regularly arrives with no drawings, and the same measuring and CAD process applies to a machining job.
Send the part, the print or the problem.
